As pupils across Bristol start their GCSEs, many of us will be thinking back to the time we were turning over our exam papers at school.
For some, memories of school days will be fonder than others, and many of the schools Bristolians attended are no longer even standing.
We’ve trawled through the archives to find photos of Bristol schools over the years. Some are gone forever, others are still very much open and teaching future generations.
And if you have any memories of the nine schools featured in our round-up, we’d love to hear from you.

4. Barton Hill School
Built in 1910, Barton Hill School on Queen Ann Road was built on the site of a 17th-century mansion known as Tilly’s Court. Damaged by fire a few years ago, it was boarded up and put on the market for just over £1million in 2021. | Bristol city council
