Secondary schools across Bristol are opening their doors to welcome the future cohort of Year 7 pupils for open evenings.
The events are designed to allow parents and potential pupils to see what the secondary schools in their area are like and can help them choose where to apply ahead of the October 31 application deadline.
We have compiled the Bristol schools with the best Attainment 8 scores and percentage of students who achieved Grade 5 or above in English and Maths.
The Attainment 8 score is based on how well pupils have performed in up to eight qualifications, which include: English, Maths, three English Baccalaureate qualifications including Sciences, Computer Science, History, Geography and Languages, and three other additional approved qualifications.
We then looked at which of the schools with the highest Attainment 8 rates had received an overall Ofsted rating of “good” or “outstanding” before this measure was dropped this month.
This means the quality of education provided, student behaviour and attitudes, school leadership and management, and student safeguarding have all been found to either meet or exceed government standards.
