A long-running social club in Bristol has ceased trading with immediate effect.

One of the directors of CTK2012, which runs Christ the King Parish Club in Knowle West, made the announcement on Facebook.

“It’s with great sadness that I must inform you that CTK2012 will cease trading with immediate effect,” Simon Noble wrote in the club’s Facebook group.

“Thank you all for your support.

“A more detailed statement will follow shortly.”

In comments, people have reacted to the closure of the club, which is next to Christ the King Church and School.

It is also next to Filwood Library, which is due to be relocated into Filwood Community Centre as part of regeneration plans.

“Another club gone, thanks for letting us know,” wrote one person.

“Ridiculous,” added another. “Could potentially be a gold mine, that place.”

The news follows the closure of another Knowle West-based organisation, Re:work, last week.

It also follows the passing of Christ the King’s long-serving parish priest, Father Michael, in September.
