Chris Martin: Coldplay star performs gig at pub near Bristol, what was the song - who is Dakota Johnson

Chris Martin - famously known for being a member of one of the world’s biggest Indie bands Coldplay - stunned locals as he showed up at a pub near Bristol.

The band’s frontman, accompanied by his girlfriend, gave an impromptu performance of one of Coldplay’s most popular tracks.

Where is the pub and when did this happen?

Chris Martin paid a visit to The Stag at Hinton Charterhouse in the region of Bath on Sunday, 26 June 2022.

The gastropub - which is located just 16-miles away from Bristol City Centre - can be found at the following address: 22 High Street, Hinton Charterhouse, Bath, BA2 7SW.

What happened?

According to a number of reports, the pub’s landlord - Chris Parkin - said that he was sitting at the bar enjoying some conversation with a local farmer when the Coldplay musician made a surprise appearance.

The pub had just finished its lunchtime service at the time and Mr Parkin joked with his farmer friend that ‘the fella looks like Chris Martin’ - his identity was then confirmed by the artist’s female personal assistant.

After serving the group including Chris Martin with pints of Guinness, the landlord asked customers to leave them in peace as they made their way for a quiet drink outside.

However, it was only until two pub goers - who happened to be an engaged couple - relayed the information to the musician that they planned on having a huge Coldplay  hit  performed at their wedding, to which the impromptu performance came about.

Chris Martin offered Hannah Organ (bride) and Jeremy Larkham (groom) the chance to hear it performed on the pub’s piano, to which they obviously agreed.

After the performance, the musician gave the happy couple advice ahead of their forthcoming wedding ceremony.

Why was Chris Martin in Bath?

Chris Martin was in the area as he was travelling home after a weekend of partying at the Glastonbury Festival 2022.

The music extravaganza, which attracted around 200,000 fans, finished on Sunday, 26 June and was held in Pilton, Somerset.

The Coldplay star is believed to have been returning to his home in the Belsize area of London, which he owned with ex-partner Gwyneth Paltrow.

What song did Chris Martin perform?

As per the requests of the soon-to-be-weds, Chris Martin performed ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ - one of Coldplay’s biggest hits which was released in 2014.

The track was the indie band’s first number one single on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart and went on to sell way over one million copies in the US alone.

Who is Dakota Johnson?

Accompanying him during his impromptu gig at a pub in Bath was Chris Martin’s girlfriend, American actor Dakota Johnson.

The pair have been in a relationship since October 2017 and currently reside in a $12.5 million mansion in Malibu, California.

Ms Johnson, 32, is most popularly known for starring in the Fifty Shades film series from 2015 to 2018.

The Texas-born model made her major breakthrough in the industry after her supporting role in 21 Jump Street alongside Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.
