South Gloucestershire road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 18 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 18 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M48, from 2am July 14 2022 to 6am March 27 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, Severn Bridge lane closure 24 / seven for main cable inspection and bridge maintenance works.

M48, from 7pm June 22 2022 to 6am March 27 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, Severn Bridge - Lane closure for main cable inspection works.

M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

And a further 14 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M5, from 8am January 31 to 4pm February 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 16 to 17 hard shoulder closure for maintenance.

M5, from 9pm January 31 to 6am February 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, J16 to 15 - lane closure for safety barrier repairs.

M5, from 10pm January 31 to 6am February 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to 15 carriageway closure for electrical works, diversion via A38 to junction 16.

M4, from 10pm January 31 to 6am February 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 to 18 lane closure for electrical works.

M4, from 9pm February 1 to 6am February 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 exit slip road to M5 northbound, closed for survey works. Diversion via M5 southbound to junction 16, to turn and return northbound.

M4, from 9pm February 1 to 6am February 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 lane closure for electrical works.

M32, from 9pm February 2 to 6am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 exit slip lane closure for barrier repairs.

M4, from 9am to 4pm on February 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 18 to 19 hard shoulder closures for electrical works.

M5, from 9pm February 6 to 6am February 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 exit slip road to M4 westbound, closure for electrical works, diversion via M5, junction 16 and return.

M4, from 10pm February 6 to 6am February 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 northbound, junction 18, M5 to junction 22, M4 closed for maintenance works, diversion via M5 northbound to junction 15 and M4 westbound.

M4, from 9pm February 8 to 6am February 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 15 exit slip road to M4 eastbound, closure for electrical works, diversion via M4 westbound to junction 22 and return.

M4, from 10pm February 8 to 6am February 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M49 southbound, M4, junction 22 to M5 J18a carriageway closure for Horticulture, diversion Route: M4 eastbound to junction 20, M5 southbound to junction 18a.

M48, from 9am to 4pm on February 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, between M4 and junction 1 hard shoulder closure for electrical works.

M5, from 10pm February 13 to 5am February 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 entry slip road - lane closure for Vodafone works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
