South Gloucestershire road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 16 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M48, from 2am July 14 to 6am November 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, Severn Bridge lane closure 24 / seven for main cable inspection and bridge maintenance works.

M48, from 7pm June 22 2022 to 6am January 23 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, Severn Bridge - Lane closure for main cable inspection works.

M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

And a further 12 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M4, from 8pm September 12 to 6am September 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound to M4 eastbound, slip closed for electrical works, diversion via M4, junction 22, U-Turn to join M4 eastbound.

M5, from 9pm September 12 to 6am September 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 13 - 14 lane closures for footbridge works.

M4, from 9pm September 12 to 6am September 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 Prince of Wales Bridge eastbound, carriageway closed overnight for bridge maintenance. Includes westbound, safety lane closure. *diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

M32, from 8pm September 13 to 6am September 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 and junction 16 closed between exit / entry slip for carriageway repairs. Diversion for, junction 15 via M4 east to junction 19, M32, junction 1, U-turn, M4 westbound to junction 20 to re-join M5 south. Diversion for, junction 16 via exit and entry slip roads.

M5, from 11pm September 13 to 6am September 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 16 to 15 closed for surveys, diversion via exit and entry link roads.

M5, from 10pm September 15 to 6am September 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18a Slip closures for Horticulture, diversion for St Brendans traffic to use Portway Roundabout via Bristow Broadway, diversion for M5 southbound: M5 northbound to junction 17 and return.

M4, from 10pm September 20 to 6am September 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 lane closure for electrical works.

M32, from 7am September 22 to 7pm September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 Both Directions, junction 1 to junction 2 Hard Shoulder closures for inspections.

M4, from 10pm September 22 to 6am September 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 link road to M5 southbound, lane closure for drainage works.

M5, from 10pm September 23 to 6am September 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 17 entry Slip closure for Horticulture, diversion northbound to junction 16 and return to M5 southbound.

M32, from 10pm September 23 to 6am September 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 to 1 lane closure for maintenance works.

M4, from 10pm September 26 to 6am September 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 southbound, junction 15 closed, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn and re-join M4 eastbound.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
