South Gloucestershire road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 19 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M48, from 7pm June 24 to 6am June 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M48 westbound, Severn Bridge carriageway closed 24 / seven for main cable inspection and other maintenance works. Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

M48, from 7pm June 24 to 6am June 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M48 eastbound, Severn Bridge carriageway closed 24 / seven for main cable inspections and bridge maintenance works. Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

M4, from 9pm June 21 to 6am July 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 - 18 lane closures for resurfacing.

M48, from 7pm June 22 2022 to 6am January 23 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, Severn Bridge - Lane closure for main cable inspection works.

M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

M32, from 10pm June 27 to 6am June 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 15 northbound and southbound, entry slips from M4, junction 20 eastbound, closed for drainage work, diversion: continue eastbound, on M4, exit, junction 19 to M32, exit, junction 1, turn and re-join M32 northbound, at, junction 1, follow M4 westbound, join M5 at, junction 20.

M32, from 9pm June 28 to 6am June 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 entry slip road closed for road markings renewal, diversion: Join M4 westbound, exit at, junction 19, follow M32 southbound, exit, junction 1, turn and re-join M32 northbound, join M4 eastbound.

M4, from 10pm June 28 to 6am June 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 19 to 20 westbound, hard shoulder closure leading to lane closure on westbound, exit slip towards M5 southbound. For horticulture works.

M4, from 10pm June 28 to 6am June 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 exit slips onto M4 closed for electrical works. Diversion via M5, junction 16, U-Turn and return northbound to join M4 eastbound, or westbound, as required.

A46, from 8am June 29 to 8pm June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 from M4, junction 18 to Cold Ashton used as a diversion route for South Gloucestershire Council closure of B4040.

A4, from 9pm June 30 to 6am July 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 to 21 carriageway closure including, junction 22 eastbound, entry slip closure for road markings renewal, diversion: M49 to Avonmouth, turn at St.Brendans roundabout, re-join M5 norhtbound, re-join M4 eastbound, at, junction 15.

M32, from 10pm July 1 to 6am July 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 entry slip road closure for resurfacing, diversion via M4 westbound to junction 20, M5 southbound to junction 16, return M5 northbound to junction 15 to join M4 eastbound.

M4, from 10pm July 2 to 9am July 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 18 carriageway closed between the exit and entry slips for bridge inspection. Diversion via exit and entry slips.

M5, from 8am July 4 to 4pm July 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 14 lane closures northbound and southbound, exit slip for resurfacing works.

M4, from 10pm July 5 to 6am July 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 hard shoulder closure, including lane closure on, junction 19 eastbound, exit slip, for horticulture works.

M32, from 9pm July 6 to 6am July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 entry slip road closure for resurfacing, diversion via M4 westbound to junction 20, M5 southbound to junction 16, return M5 northbound to junction 15 to join M4 eastbound.

M4, from 9pm July 11 to 6am July 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 Prince of Wales Bridge eastbound, carriageway closed overnight for bridge maintenance. Includes westbound, safety lane closure. Diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
