South Gloucestershire road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 19 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

• M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

And a further 17 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M48, from 7pm June 6 to 6am June 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 - lane closure for central reservation works.

• M5, from 8pm June 6 to 6am June 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 13 - 14 lane closures for footbridge works.

• M32, from 9pm June 6 to 5am June 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - carriageway closure for drainage work, diversion following solid triangle, exit M32 at, junction 1, A4174, A38, join M5 northbound, at, junction 16, join M4 westbound.

• M5, from 9pm June 6 to 6am June 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both direction, junction 15 to 14, lane closure for electrical works.

• M32, from 9pm June 7 to 6am June 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 entry slip road closed for road markings renewal, diversion: Join M4 westbound, exit at, junction 19, follow M32 southbound, exit, junction 1, turn and re-join M32 northbound, join M4 eastbound.

• M5, from 9pm June 7 to 4am June 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 16 to 15 northbound, lane closure for electrical works.

• M48, from 7pm June 8 to 6am June 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, junction 2 to 1. Lane closure for central reservation works works.

• M32, from 9pm June 8 to 5am June 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - carriageway closure for drainage work, diversion: Follow solid black square. Exit M5 at, junction 16, A38, A4174, Join M32 northbound, at, junction 1, M4 eastbound.

• A4, from 10pm June 9 to 5am June 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 17 to 18 - carriageway closure for special order abnormal load convoy, diversion northbound, from M5 via M49, M4, M5, diversion northbound, from, junction 18 via M5, turn, junction 19, follow above route, diversion southbound, via M5, M4, M49.

• M32, from 10pm June 10 to 6am June 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32, junction 1 northbound, exit slip lane closure for maintenance works.

• M4, from 10pm June 11 to 10am June 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, Prince of Wales Bridge carriageway closed overnight for bridge maintenance. Diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

• M5, from 8pm June 13 to 6am June 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 13 - 14 lane closures for footbridge works.

• M4, from 10pm June 13 to 6am June 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 19 to 21 - mobile lane closure for horticulture works.

• M5, from 10pm June 13 to 6am June 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 19 to 21 - mobile lane closure for horticulture works.

• M4, from 9pm June 14 to 10am June 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 - 18 carriageway closure for resurfacing, diversion via M32, A4174, A432, B4059, A432 and A46.

• M5, from 10pm June 15 to 5am June 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to junction 16 Lane closures for Electrical works.

• M48, from 10pm June 15 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 Both Directions M4 J21 to M48 Severn Bridge IPV for Horticulture works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
