South Gloucestershire road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 15 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 15 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that nine closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M32, from midnight, March 26 to 5am November 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 and M4, junction 19 to 23 used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses for Bristol Parkway to Newport route.

M5, from midnight, August 31 to 6am November 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to junction 14 - offside narrow lanes in place for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M5, from 6am October 8 to 6am November 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to junction 17 - narrow lanes in place including southbound, contra-flow lane running on northbound, carriageway for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M4, from 5am March 17 2023 to 11pm March 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M5, from 5am March 25 2023 to 11pm March 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16 - narrow lanes for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from 5am March 11 2023 to 11pm March 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from midnight, August 30 2023 to 6am May 22 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to junction 17 including access roads from M4 and M5, junction 16 exit slip road - 50mph speed restriction in place for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M4, from midnight, August 31 2023 to 6am May 22 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to junction 14 including access roads from M4 and M5, junction 17 and junction 16 entry slip roads - 50mph speed restriction in place for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M4, from midnight, August 31 2023 to 6am May 22 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 exit slip road to M5 northbound, junction 15 - 24hr lane closure for bridge deck refurbishment works.

And a further six closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A46, from 9pm October 30 to 5am October 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to 19 closed for technology works, diversion via A46, A420, A4174 to M32, junction 1.

M4, from 9pm November 3 to 6am November 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 exit slip roads to M5, junction 15 closed for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22 and return M4 eastbound to junction 20.

M32, from 9pm November 3 to 6am November 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to 17 - carriageway closure for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion via A38. For access to M5 southbound, follow A38, Hayes Way, Merlin Road, re-join M5, For access to M4 follow A38, A4174, M32, M4.

M48, from 6am November 4 to 8pm November 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge lane closure for structure maintenance works.

M32, from 8pm November 13 to 6am November 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 carriageway closure between the exit and entry slip roads for SMART motorway improvements, diversion via exit at, junction 1, M32, turn to re-join M32 northbound, re-join M4 westbound, at, junction 19.

A46, from 10pm November 13 to 6am November 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A46 both directions Cold Ashton Roundabout to M4, junction 18 carriageway closed for maintenance, northbound, diversion A420, A4174, A432, A46. Southbound, diversion A46, B4465, A4174 and A420.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
