South Gloucestershire road closures: dozens of for motorists to avoid this week

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 26 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M4, from 6am January 8 to 11am January 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 - 17 lane closure for resurfacing works.

• M32, from 9.30pm January 4 to 6am January 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 1 closed between the exit and entry slips for survey works, diversion via the southbound, exit and entry slips.

• M32, from 8.30pm January 12 to 6am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 1 closed between the exit and entry slips for survey works, diversion via the northbound, exit and entry slips.

• M5, from 6am January 5 to 8pm February 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 18a to 17 lane closure 24 / seven northbound, for fence work and pond removal.

• M48, from 9pm October 4 2021 to 6am March 9 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M48 Severn Bridge eastbound, carriageway closed overnight for bridge maintenance works. Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

• M48, from 9pm October 11 2021 to 6am March 16 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M48 Severn Bridge westbound, carriageway closed overnight for maintenance works. Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

And a further 20 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M32, from 8pm January 17 to 6am January 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 closed between the exit and entry slips and M5 northbound, junction 17 to 15 lane closure for survey works, diversion via M4 east to junction 19 then M32 south to junction 1 and return north to M4 then west to junction 20.

• M5, from 9pm January 17 to 6am January 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 14 - Lane closures for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M4, from 10pm January 17 to 6am January 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 northbound, Lane closure, including lane closure on M4, junction 22 roundabout, for bridge inspections.

• M32, from 8.30pm January 18 to 6am March 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound and southbound, junction 1 exit slips lane closures for survey works.

• M5, from 9pm January 20 to 5am January 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 - 16 carriageway closure for electrical works, diversion via Merlin Road, Hayes Way and A38 Gloucester Road.

• M4, from 9pm January 24 to 6am January 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 18 to 19 westbound, lane closure for area scheme.

• M4, from 10pm January 24 to 6am January 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 20 to 21 lane closure westbound, for structure inspections.

• M49, from 10am to 3pm on January 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 lane closure in both directions for technology works.

• M4, from 8pm January 25 to 6am February 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 21 to 20 lane closures for survey works.

• M4, from 8pm January 25 to 6am January 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 20 lane closure westbound, exit slip for tree cutting.

• M4, from 8pm January 26 to 6am January 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 19 to 18 lane closure eastbound, for technology works.

• M4, from 10pm January 26 to 6am January 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 22 to 21 lane closure eastbound, for structure inspections.

• M32, from 9pm January 28 to 6am January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 entry slip road closed for resurfacing works. Diversion via M4 westbound to junction 19, M32 J1 and return.

• M48, from 10pm January 28 to 6am January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 lane closure westbound, for structure inspections.

• M5, from 9pm January 29 to 6am January 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to 16 carriageway closure for resurfacing, diversion via A38 soutbound.

• M5, from 9pm January 30 to 6am January 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 exit slip road closed for carriageway resurfacing, diversion via M5, junction 16 and return.

• M4, from 10pm January 30 to 6am January 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 22 to 20 lane closure eastbound, for structure inspections.

• M4, from 10pm January 30 to 6am January 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 20 to 22 lane closure westbound, for structure inspections.

• M4, from 8pm January 31 to 6am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 - 17 lane closures with switching for resurfacing works.

• M4, from 9pm January 31 to 6am February 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 Prince of Wales Bridge westbound, carriageway closed overnight for maintenance work. Includes eastbound, safety lane closure. Diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
