South Gloucestershire road closures: dozens for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 28 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 28 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And four of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 14 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M4, from 8pm January 27 to 6am January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 exit slip roads to M5, junction 15 closed for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22 and return M4 eastbound to junction 20.

M32, from 8pm January 23 to 6am January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 14 - carriageway closure for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion for M5 traffic via Merlin Road, Hayes Way, A38 northbound, M5, diversion for M4 traffic via A38 southbound, A4174, M32, M4.

M4, from 8pm January 23 to 6am January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 exit slip road to M5 northbound, junction 15 closed for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion via M5 southbound, exit, junction 16, A38 northbound, re-join M5 at, junction 14.

A46, from 11.18pm January 25 to 11.59pm January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 north of Cold Ashton, traffic lights in place for Bristol Water works.

M5, from 6am October 8 2023 to 6am January 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to junction 17 - narrow lanes in place including southbound, contra-flow lane running on northbound, carriageway for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M5, from midnight, August 31 2023 to 6am January 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to junction 14 - offside narrow lanes in place for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M4, from 5am March 17 2023 to 11pm March 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M5, from 5am March 25 2023 to 11pm March 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16 - narrow lanes for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from 5am March 11 2023 to 11pm March 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M5, from midnight, January 23 to 6am May 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to junction 17 - offside narrow lanes in place for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M5, from midnight, January 28 to 6am May 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to junction 14 - narrow lanes in place including northbound, contra-flow lane running on southbound, carriageway for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M5, from 10pm February 12 to 6am February 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18 to 17, lane closure for carriageway repair.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
