South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 31 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 31 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M4, from 10pm June 29 to 10pm August 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22, 50 mph speed restrictions.

M4, from 8pm July 31 to 5am August 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road to M5 southbound, junction 15 closure for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion via M5 northbound, exit, junction 14, join M5 southbound.

M5, from 8pm July 31 to 5am August 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 16 exit slip road closed for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion via M5 southbound, exit at, junction 17, join M5 northbound to junction 16.

M4, from 8pm July 31 to 5am August 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 entry slip road to M5 southbound, junction 15 - lane closures for bridge deck refurbishment works.

M32, from midnight, March 26 to 5am November 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 and M4, junction 19 to 23 used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses for Bristol Parkway to Newport route.

M5, from 5am March 25 to 5am November 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16 - narrow lanes for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from 5am March 17 2023 to 5am January 21 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from 5am March 11 2023 to 5am January 21 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

And a further 23 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M48, from 7pm August 7 to 6am August 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge lane closure for structure maintenance works.

M4, from 8pm August 7 to 6am August 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 22 closed between exit and entry slip road for carriageway repairs. Diversion via exit and entry slip roads.

A46, from 9pm August 7 to 6am August 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 Both Directions, junction 18 to junction 19 carriageway closure for bridge construction, diversions, eastbound: M32, junction 1, A4174 east, A420 east, A46 north, westbound: A46 southbound, A420 west, A4174 north, M32, junction 1.

M4, from 9pm August 7 to 6am August 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - lane closure for OGI (broadband South Wales) works.

M48, from 7pm August 9 to 6am August 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge carriageway closed for structure maintenance works. Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

M5, from 8am to 6pm on August 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 13 to 14 hard shoulder closure for CCTV surveys.

M4, from 8pm August 14 to 6am August 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 22 closed between exit and entry slip road for carriageway repairs. Diversion via exit and entry slip roads.

M4, from 8pm August 14 to 6am August 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 exit slip road to M5 northbound, junction 15 closure for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion via M5 southbound, exit, junction 16, A38 northbound, M5.

M32, from 8pm August 14 to 6am August 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 14 - carriageway closure for bridge deck refurbishment works, diversion for M5 traffic via Merlin Road, Hayes Way, A38 northbound, M5. National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
