South Gloucestershire road closures: almost two dozen for motorists to avoid this week

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 20 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M4, from 11pm August 12 to 6am August 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 17 to 18 lane closures for white lining works.

M48, from 2am July 14 to 6am November 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, Severn Bridge lane closure 24 / seven for main cable inspection and bridge maintenance works.

M48, from 7pm June 22 2022 to 6am January 23 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, Severn Bridge - Lane closure for main cable inspection works.

M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

And a further 15 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M32, from 9am August 15 to 3pm August 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 both directions, junction 1 lane closure on exit slips for street cleansing on behalf of South Gloucestershire.

M32, from 9pm August 15 to 6am August 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 entry and exit slip roads closed for white lining works. Exit slip diversion via M4 westbound to junction 19, M32 southbound to junction 1, turn and return northbound, M4 eastbound to junction 18. Entry slip diversion via M4 eastbound to junction 17, to turn and return westbound.

M5, from 9pm August 15 to 6am August 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 13 - 14 lane closures for footbridge works.

M4, from 9pm August 15 to 6am August 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 18 to19 lane closures for central reservation works.

M4, from 10pm August 15 to 6am August 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 northbound, junction 18, M5 to junction 22, M4 - carriageway closure for central reservation works, diversion via M5, M4.

M4, from 10pm August 17 to 6am August 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M49 southbound, M4, junction 22 to M5 J18a carriageway closure for Horticulture, diversion Route: M4 eastbound to junction 20, M5 southbound to junction 18a.

A46, from 10pm August 22 to 6am August 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 18 lane closures for horticultural works.

M5, from 10pm August 22 to 5am August 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to junction 15 Lane closures for Electrical works, diversion for M5 northbound to M4: M5 northbound to junction 14 and Return to junction 15, traffic entering at M5, junction 16 northbound, can access M4 as normal.

M5, from 11pm August 23 to 6am August 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 17 to junction 18 - Lane closure for Graffiti Removal.

A46, from 9pm August 24 to 6am August 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 Both Directions, junction 18 Lane closures for Electrical works.

A4, from 10pm August 24 to 5am August 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 17 to 18 - carriageway closure for special order abnormal load convoy, diversion northbound, from M5 via M49, M4, M5, diversion northbound, from, junction 18 via M5, turn, junction 19, follow above route, diversion southbound, via M5, M4, M49.

M48, from 7.30am to 12.30pm on August 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 both directions Severn Bridge closed for Half Marathon event. Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
