South Gloucestershire road closures: almost two dozen for motorists to avoid this week

South Gloucestershire's motorists will have 22 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And four of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M32, from 8.30pm January 18 to 6am April 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound and southbound, junction 1 exit slips lane closures for survey works.

And a further 21 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M4, from 9pm March 28 to 3am March 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 to M5 southbound, junction 15. Lane closure for electrical works.

• M5, from 9pm March 28 to 6am March 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 14 lane closures northbound and southbound, exit slip for resurfacing works.

• M4, from 9pm March 28 to 6am March 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 Prince of Wales Bridge westbound, carriageway closed overnight for maintenance work. Includes eastbound, safety lane closure. Diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

• M5, from 9pm March 28 to 6am March 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 15 - 14 lane closures for barrier repairs.

• M32, from 10pm March 28 to 6am March 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to junction 2 - mobile Lane closures for carriageway maintenance.

• M4, from 10pm March 29 to 6am March 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound and eastbound, junction 20 entry slip from M5 southbound, junction 15 closed, diversion: exit M5 at, junction 17, turn and re-join M5 northbound, join M4.

• M4, from 9pm March 30 to 6am March 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 Prince of Wales Bridge eastbound, carriageway closed overnight for bridge maintenance. Includes westbound, safety lane closure. Diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

• M32, from 11pm March 30 to 6am April 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4, junction 19 to 20 closed westbound and eastbound, exit onto M5 southbound, for structure maintenance, diversion via M32, A4174 and A38 to M5, junction 16, diversion for eastbound, exit via M4 to junction 19, M32 to follow the above diversion.

• M48, from 6pm April 4 to 6am April 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M48 Severn Bridge eastbound, carriageway closed for bridge maintenance works. Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

• M5, from 8pm April 4 to 5am April 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 16 lane closure in both directions for electrical works (Amberon).

• M4, from 9pm April 4 to 6am April 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 southbound, from M4, junction 22 to M5 J18 carriageway closued for surveys, diversion via M4 J20, M5, junction 19 and return M5 northbound to junction 18.

• M32, from 10pm April 4 to 6am April 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 carriageway closure and M32 southbound, from M4, junction 19 to M32, junction 1 lane closure - for structure inspection, diversion - exit at M32, junction 1, A4174 westbound, A38 northbound, join M5 at, junction 16 northbound, join M4 at, junction 15.

• M4, from 10pm April 4 to 6am April 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 20 westbound, exit slip to join M5 northbound, closed for drainage works. Diversion via M5 southbound to junction 16, to turn and return northbound.

• A46, from 7.30pm to 11.59pm on April 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 West Littleton traffic lights in place for Western Power works.

• A4, from 8pm April 8 to 6am April 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip no access from Avonmouth for surveys, diversion via M5 J17 and return.

• M48, from 7pm April 11 to 6am April 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

• M5, from 8pm April 11 to 5am April 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 16 lane closure in both directions for electrical works (Amberon).

• M32, from 8.30pm April 11 to 6am April 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 1 closed between the exit and entry slips for survey works, diversion via the southbound, exit and entry slips.

• M5, from 9pm April 11 to 6am April 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 15 to 14 northbound, lane closure for surveys.

• M5, from 9pm April 11 to 6am April 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 14 to 15 southbound, lane closure for surveys.

• M48, from 10pm April 11 to 6am April 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48, junction 1 to M4, junction 21 eastbound and westbound, mobile lane closures for carriageway sweeping and drainage works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
