Road closures: more than a dozen for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 17 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M48, from 2am July 14 to 6am November 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, Severn Bridge lane closure 24 / seven for main cable inspection and bridge maintenance works.

M48, from 7pm June 22 2022 to 6am January 23 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, Severn Bridge - Lane closure for main cable inspection works.

M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

And a further 13 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M32, from 9pm September 20 to 6am September 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 exit and entry Slip lane closures.

M4, from 10pm September 20 to 6am September 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 lane closure for electrical works.

M4, from 10pm September 20 to 6am September 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 16 exit slip road closed, *diversion via M5 southbound, exit, junction 17, turn and re-join M5 northbound, exit, junction 16.

M4, from 10pm September 20 to 6am September 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions entry slip road from M4 westbound, closed, *diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn to re-join M4 eastbound, enter M5 at, junction 20, Alternatively M5 southbound, traffic to join M49 southbound, at, junction 22 and join M5 at, junction 18a.

M4, from 10pm September 22 to 6am September 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 link road to M5 southbound, lane closure for drainage works.

M4, from 10pm September 22 to 6am September 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 16 exit slip road closed, *diversion via M4 westbound, at, junction 15, exit, junction 22, turn and re-join M4 eastbound, join M5 southbound, at, junction 20, exit, junction 16 M5.

M32, from 10pm September 23 to 6am September 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 to 1 lane closure for maintenance works.

M4, from 10pm September 26 to 6am September 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 southbound, junction 15 closed, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn and re-join M4 eastbound.

M4, from 10pm September 26 to 6am September 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 northbound, junction 15 closed for SMART motorway improvement works, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn and re-join M4 eastbound.

M4, from 9pm September 28 to 6am October 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - lane closure for SMART motorway upgrade work.

M4, from 10pm September 29 to 6am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to junction 20 - Lane closure for Electrical works.

M32, from 10pm October 3 to 6am October 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 both directions, junction 1 to 2 - carriageway closure for central reservation works, diversion southbound, via A4174 westbound, / A38 southbound, / B4469 Muller Road / re-join M32. For northbound, diversion follow above in reverse.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
