Road closures: more than a dozen for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 17 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 17 closures are due to start this week:

• M5, from 9pm May 10 to 4am May 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 - 16 lane closure for electrical works.

• M4, from 9pm May 10 to 6am May 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 to junction 21 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

• M4, from 9pm May 11 to 6am May 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound and westbound, junction 19 to 20 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M48, from 9pm May 12 to 5am May 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, junction 2 to 1. Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M4, from 10pm May 12 to 6am May 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 21 to 20 lane closures in both directions for bridge works.

• A4, from 9pm May 13 to 6am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 to 21 carriageway closure for road markings renewal, diversion: M49 to Avonmouth, turn at St.Brendans roundabout, re-join M5 norhtbound, re-join M4 eastbound, at, junction 15.

• A46, from 9pm May 16 to 5am May 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A46 both directions Cold Ashton roundabout to M4, junction 18 carriageway closed for maintenance, diversion A420, A4174, A432, A46.

• M32, from 9pm May 18 to 6am May 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32, junction 1 to 2 southbound, lane closure for electrical works.

• M4, from 9pm May 19 to 6am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4, junction 22 eastbound, exit slip road closed for road markings renewal, diversion: Continue M4 eastbound, M5 southbound, exit J18 to Avonmouth.

• M4, from 9pm May 20 to 6am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 to17 - lane closures for road markings renewal.

• M5, from 9pm May 23 to 6am May 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16, lane closure for surveys.

• M4, from 9pm May 23 to 4am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to 19 - lane closure for electrical works.

• M4, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 to 21, lane closure for signs maintenance.

• M5, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 closed from St. Brendans to junction 18 including southbound, entry slip for carriageway repairs, diversion via northbound, entry and junction 17.

• M4, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 19 westbound, lane closures for Network Rail bridge inspection.

• M32, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 entry slip road closed for road markings renewal, diversion: Join M4 westbound, exit at, junction 19, follow M32 southbound, exit, junction 1, turn and re-join M32 northbound, join M4 eastbound.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
