Road closures: dozens of for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 25 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 25 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

M4, from 5am March 17 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from 5am March 11 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M5, from 5am March 25 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16 - narrow lanes for SMART motorway improvements.

M32, from midnight, March 26 to 5am November 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 and M4, junction 19 to 23 used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses for Bristol Parkway to Newport route.

And a further 19 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M5, from 10pm March 27 to 6am March 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to 15 lane closure for electrical works.

M4, from 10pm March 27 to 6am March 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18a entry slip road to M49 closure for survey works, diversion via M5, M4. Alternatively exit at, junction 18, turn at St Brendans RBT, M5,M49.

M32, from 10pm March 27 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 Both Directions, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 carriageway closure for litter clearance, diversion via A4174, A38, M5, junction 16 to M4, junction 20 and vice versa.

M5, from 9pm March 28 to 6am March 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 to 16 closed for electrical works. Diversion via M4 east to junction 19 and return to junction 20.

M4, from 9pm March 28 to 6am March 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 to 18 lane closure for carriageway repairs.

A4, from 10pm March 28 to 6am March 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip road closure. No access to M5 from St Brendans Roundabout for survey works, diversion via Bristow Broadway, M5 northbound, exit, junction 17, M5 southbound.

M4, from 9pm March 29 to 6am March 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 16 to 15 closed for electrical works. Diversion via M4 west to junction 22, return eastbound to junction 20 and exit onto M5 north.

M5, from 9pm March 29 to 6am March 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 15 to 14 lane closures for resurfacing.

A46, from 8pm April 3 to 6am April 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 Both Directions M4, junction 18 to Cold Ashton multi-way signals for horticulture.

M32, from 9pm April 3 to 6am April 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 to 1 lane closure for horticultural works.

M48, from 9pm April 3 to 6am April 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 both directions mobile lane closure for drainage works.

M5, from 8am to 4pm on April 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to 15 hard shoulder closure for barrier repairs.

M49, from 9pm April 4 to 6am April 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 both directions mobile lane closure for barrier works.

M4, from 9pm April 4 to 6am April 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 to 18 lane closure for electrical works.

M4, from 9pm April 5 to 6am April 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to 19 lane closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
