Road closures: dozens of for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 30 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M5, from 10pm February 13 to 5am February 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 entry slip road - lane closure for Vodafone works.

• M48, from 2am July 14 2022 to 6am March 27 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, Severn Bridge lane closure 24 / seven for main cable inspection and bridge maintenance works.

• M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

• M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

And a further 26 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M4, from 9pm February 20 to 5am February 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - lane closures for SMART motorway upgrade works.

• M4, from 9pm February 20 to 5am February 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 entry slip road - lane closure for SMART motorway upgrade works.

• M4, from 9pm February 21 to 6am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 to 22 - Lane closure for Central Reservation works.

• M4, from 9pm February 21 to 5am February 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, entry slip road from M5 southbound, closure for SMART motorway upgrade works, diversion via M5, exit, junction 16, turn and re-join M5 northbound to M4.

• M4, from 10pm February 21 to 6am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

• M5, from 9pm February 22 to 5am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 16 to 17 - lane closures for SMART motorway upgrade works.

• M5, from 9pm February 22 to 5am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 entry slip road - lane closure for SMART motorway upgrade works.

• M5, from 9pm February 22 to 5am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18 to 17 - lane closures for SMART motorway upgrade works.

• M4, from 9pm February 23 to 5am February 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - lane closures for SMART motorway upgrade works.

• M32, from 10pm February 23 to 6am February 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 1 to junction 2 carriageway closure for Cyclical works, diversion via A4174, A38, and B4469 Muller Road.

• M5, from 10pm February 23 to 6am February 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 exit slip road closure for drainage works, diversion via M5, junction 16 and return to M4.

• M4, from 10pm February 23 to 6am February 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 15 entry slip roads from M4 westbound, junction 20 - carriageway closure for barrier works, diversion via M4, exit, junction 22, turn to join M4 eastbound to junction 20, Alternatively traffic wanting M5 southbound, use M49 at, junction 22, M4.

• M5, from 8am February 27 to 4pm March 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 hard shoulder closure for drainage works.

• M4, from 9pm February 27 to 5am March 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 southbound, junction 15 closed for SMART motorway improvements, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn and join M4 eastbound.

• M4, from 9pm February 27 to 5am March 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 21 to 19 - lane closure for SMART motorway improvement works.

• M4, from 9pm February 27 to 5am March 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 northbound, junction 15 closed for SMART motorway improvement works, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, turn and re-join M4 eastbound.

• M5, from 10pm February 27 to 6am February 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 17 exit slip road closure for technology works, diversion to M5, junction 18a and return.

• M4, from 9am to 5pm on February 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 18 to 19 hard shoulder closures for electrical works.

• M4, from 9am to 4pm on March 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, 19 hard shoulder closure for electrical works.

• M32, from 9am to 4pm on March 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 1 hard shoulder closure for electrical works.

• M32, from 9pm March 1 to 6am March 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 to 1 lane closure for electrical works.

• M4, from 8pm March 2 to 6am March 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 lane closure for electrical works.

• M48, from 9am to 5pm on March 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, between M4 and junction 1 hard shoulder closure for electrical works.

• A46, from 9pm March 4 to 5am March 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 exit slip road closed for SMART motorway improvements, diversion via M4 eastbound to jct 18, turn to join M4 westbound to jct 19.

• M5, from 8am March 6 to 4pm March 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 exit slip hard shoulder closure for drainage works.

• M4, from 10pm March 6 to 6am March 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 entry slip closed for drainage. Diversion via M49, M5 north to M4.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
