Road closures: dozens of for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 27 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M4, from 9pm May 20 to 6am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 to17 - lane closures for road markings renewal.

• M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

And a further 25 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M4, from 9pm May 23 to 4am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to 19 - lane closure for electrical works.

• M5, from 9pm May 23 to 6am May 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16, lane closure for surveys.

• M4, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 to 21, lane closure for signs maintenance.

• M32, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 1 to 2 - carriageway closure for central reservation work, diversion: exit M32, junction 1, westbound, A4174 (Filton Road), southbound, A38, eastbound, B4469 (Muller Road), re-join M32 southbound, at, junction 2.

• M4, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 19 westbound, lane closures for Network Rail bridge inspection.

• M5, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip from St. Brendans closed for carriageway repairs, diversion via northbound, entry and junction 17.

• M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westtbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

• M32, from 10pm May 23 to 6am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 entry slip road closed for road markings renewal, diversion: Join M4 westbound, exit at, junction 19, follow M32 southbound, exit, junction 1, turn and re-join M32 northbound, join M4 eastbound.

• A46, from 9pm May 24 to 6am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 18 roundabout - lane closures on roundabout and on all approaches to roundabout for road markings renewal.

• M32, from 10pm May 24 to 6am May 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 - one carriageway closure for maintenance, diversion via B4469, A38 and A4174.

• M4, from 10pm May 24 to 6am May 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 19 eastbound, lane closures for Network Rail bridge inspection.

• M5, from 9pm May 25 to 6am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 15, lane closure for surveys.

• M4, from 9pm May 25 to 6am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 18 to 19 westbound, lane closure for electrical works.

• M5, from 9pm May 25 to 6am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 to 17, lane closure for surveys.

• M32, from 10pm May 25 to 6am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 19 westbound, entry slip road, lane closure for Network Rail bridge inspection.

• M5, from 10pm May 25 to 6am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 16 closed between exit and entry slip for surveys. Diversion via exit and entry slip roads.

• M32, from 10pm May 25 to 6am May 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound and southbound, between M4, junction 19 and M32, junction 1 - carriageway closed for survey works, diversion from M32 northbound, - exit at, junction 1, A4174 westbound, A38 northbound, Join M5 at, junction 16, diversion M32 southbound, - exit at, junction 1 and immediately re-join M32 southbound, at, junction 1.

• M4, from 9pm May 26 to 6am May 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 - 19 lane closure for barrier repairs.

• M5, from 10pm May 26 to 6am May 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 16 southbound, entry slip closed for survey works, diversion via A38 south, Hayes Way and Merlin Road to junction 17.

• M4, from 10pm May 26 to 6am May 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 19 eastbound, exit slip road, lane closure for Network Rail bridge inspection.

• M4, from 10pm May 31 to 6am June 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - Lane closure for signs - maintenance.

• M5, from 8am June 6 to 4pm June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 14 lane closures northbound and southbound, exit slip for resurfacing works.

• M48, from 7pm June 6 to 6am June 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 - lane closure for central reservation works.

• M5, from 9pm June 6 to 6am June 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both direction, junction 15 to 14, lane closure for electrical works.

• M32, from 9pm June 6 to 5am June 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - carriageway closure for drainage work, diversion following solid triangle, exit M32 at, junction 1, A4174, A38, join M5 northbound, at, junction 16, join M4 westbound.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
