Road closures: almost two dozen for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 21 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 10 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M4, from 8pm May 14 to 6am May 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 23 to 22 Prince of Wales Bridge - lane closures for bridge maintenance.

• A46, from 8am May 10 to 4pm May 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 Both Directions M4, junction 18 to Tadwick Verge works for horticulture.

• M4, from 11.59pm May 4 to 6am May 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22, 50 mph speed restrictions.

• M4, from 9pm May 2 to 6am June 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 closed between exit and entry slip road for carriageway repairs. Diversion via exit and entry slip roads.

• M4, from 9pm May 4 to 6am June 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 closed between exit and entry slip road for carriageway repairs. Diversion via exit and entry slip roads.

• M48, from 9pm April 3 to 6am July 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 both directions mobile lane closure for drainage works.

• M4, from 5am March 17 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

• M4, from 5am March 11 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

• M5, from 5am March 25 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16 - narrow lanes for SMART motorway improvements.

• M32, from midnight, March 26 to 5am November 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 and M4, junction 19 to 23 used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses for Bristol Parkway to Newport route.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M4, from 9pm May 15 to 6am May 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 23 to 22 Prince of Wales Bridge - lane closure for structure maintenance.

• M4, from 10pm May 15 to 6am May 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

• A46, from 10pm May 15 to 6am May 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A46 both directions Cold Ashton Roundabout to M4, junction 18 carriageway closed for maintenance, *diversion A420, A4174, A432, A46 and vice versa.

• M4, from 11.59pm May 15 to 6am June 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22, 50 mph speed restrictions.

• M4, from 9pm May 18 to 5.59am May 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18, junction 18A exit and entry slip closed for road markings renewal. Diversion for, junction 18 exit slips via M5, junction 17 and back. Diversion for, junction 18A exit via M5 north and M4 west. Diversion for entry slip at, junction 18A via M49 north and M4 eastbound to M5/M4 junction.

• M32, from 9pm May 18 to 6am May 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 1 to junction 2 carriageway closure for central reservation, diversions, southbound: A4174 Filton Road, A38 Gloucester Road, B4469 Muller Road to junction 2.

• M32, from 9pm May 19 to 6am May 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 to junction 1 carriageway closure for central reservation, diversion B4469 Muller Road, A38, A4174 to M32, junction 1.

• M4, from 8pm May 22 to 6am May 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for South Wales Trunk Road Agent works, diversion for light traffic via M48 Severn Bridge, diversion for high sided vehicles via M5, M50, A40.

• M4, from 9pm May 22 to 6am May 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 to junction 17 lane closure for electrical works.

• M4, from 10pm May 22 to 6am May 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to junction 19 lane closure for electrical works.

• A46, from 8am May 26 to 4pm May 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 Both Directions Cold Ashton Rbt to M4, junction 18 verge works for horticulture.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
