Road closures: almost two dozen for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 20 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 20 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that nine closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M4, from 9pm April 11 to 5.59am April 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18, junction 18A exit and entry slip closed for road markings renewal. Diversion for both exit slip via M5, junction 17 and back. Diversion for entry slip at, junction 18A via M49 north and M4.

M4, from 8pm April 11 to 6am April 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 23 to 22 Prince of Wales Bridge carriageway closure for bridge maintenance. Includes westbound, safety lane closure. Diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

M5, from 8pm April 12 to 6am April 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to 15 hard shoulder closure for barrier works.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

M5, from 8pm April 14 to 6am April 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 15 to 14 lane closure for barrier works.

M4, from 5am March 17 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from 5am March 11 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M5, from 5am March 25 to 9pm September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16 - narrow lanes for SMART motorway improvements.

M32, from midnight, March 26 to 5am November 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 and M4, junction 19 to 23 used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses for Bristol Parkway to Newport route.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M4, from 8pm April 17 to 5am April 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 northbound, junction 15 closed for SMART motorway improvement works, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, M4 eastbound to junction 20.

M32, from 8pm April 17 to 5am April 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - carriageway closed for SMART motorway improvements, diversion via M5 southbound, exit, junction 16, A38, A4174, M32 northbound, join M4.

M4, from 8pm April 17 to 5am April 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 southbound, junction 15 closed for SMART motorway improvements, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22 return to M4 to junction 20.

M5, from 10pm April 17 to 6am April 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 16 entry slip road closure for electrical works, diversion via A38, Hayes Way, Merlin Road, M5.

M49, from 8pm April 19 to 6am April 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 southbound, lane closure for barrier repairs.

M4, from 8pm April 19 to 6am April 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 16 exit slip road closed for SMART motorway improvements, diversion via M5 southbound, exit, junction 17, turn and re-join M5 northbound, exit, junction 16.

M32, from 8pm April 19 to 6am April 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 carriageway closure for SMART motorway improvements, diversion via M32 exit, junction 1, A4174, A38, join M5 northbound, at, junction 16, re-join M4.

M48, from 9pm April 19 to 6am April 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 carriageway closure between exit and entry slip roads for electrical work, diversion off at exit slip road and re-join at entry slip road.

M4, from 9pm April 20 to 6am April 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 19 to 18 lane closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
