Road closures: almost two dozen for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 23 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 23 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that seven closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M5, from 10pm November 25 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 Both Directions, junction 14 to junction 18 IPV for drainage works, Avoiding all other works.

M5, from 8pm November 21 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 14 lane closure / traffic lights installed by South Gloucestershire for VRS repairs. No access to northbound, entry slip from B4509 eastbound, - traffic diverted to Wotton Road roundabout and back.

M4, from 10pm November 25 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 Both Directions, junction 19 to junction 21 mobile IPV for drainage, Avoiding all other works.

M48, from 2am July 14 2022 to 6am January 26 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, Severn Bridge lane closure 24 / seven for main cable inspection and bridge maintenance works.

M48, from 7pm June 22 2022 to 6am February 2 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, Severn Bridge - Lane closure for main cable inspection works.

M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

And a further 16 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M32, from 10pm November 28 to 6am November 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 both directions, junction 1 - exit slip road lane closures for inspection/surveys.

M4, from 10pm November 30 to 6am December 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to 19 lane closure for technology works.

M5, from 9am December 1 to 3pm December 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 15 to junction 14 - hard shoulder only for drainage works.

A46, from 9.30am to 3pm on December 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 stop and go at various locations for barrier inspections.

M5, from 8pm December 1 to 6am December 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 14 to 15 lane closure for barrier repairs.

M32, from 10pm December 1 to 6am December 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 1 exit slip road closure for maintenance works, diversion via M32 northbound to M4, junction 19 and return.

M5, from 8pm December 2 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 13 to 14 lane closure for horticultural works.

M4, from 9pm December 2 to 6am December 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 to 21 carriageway closed for white lining works. Includes lane closures over M4 Prince of Wales bridge. Diversion via M49 southbound to M5, junction 18 and M5 northbound to Almondsbury Interchange.

M4, from 8am December 5 to 4pm December 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 hard shoulder closure for vegetation works.

M32, from 10pm December 5 to 6am December 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 to junction 17 carriageway closures for Central Reservation works, diversion M4 eastbound to junction 19, M32, junction 1 A4174. A38, Hayes Way, Merlin Way, Alternative M4 westbound to junction 22, southbound, on M49.

M32, from 10pm December 6 to 6am December 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 16 to junction 17 carriageway closures for Central Reservation Work. Exit slip road from M4 eastbound to M5 southbound, closed, diversion for M5 via A38, Hayes Way and Merlin Road, diversion for M4 to M5 slip road via M32, junction 1 and return.

M5, from 10pm December 6 to 6am December 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 13 to 14 - lane closure for electrical works.

M5, from 10pm December 6 to 6am December 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip from Avonmouth closed. No direct access to M5, junction 18 from St Brendan's Roundabout. For gantry inspections. Northbound, traffic diverted via alternative link road from Portway Roundabout. Southbound, traffic diverted via alternative link road from Portway Roundabout, M5 northbound to junction 17 to turn and return southbound.

M32, from 10pm December 7 to 6am December 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to junction 15 carriageway closures for Central Reservation Work, diversion: Merlin Road and Hayes Way to A38, South to A4174, East to M32, junction 1, North to M4, West to M5.

M4, from 10pm December 8 to 6am December 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to junction 19 lane closure for electrical work.

M4, from 10pm December 12 to 6am December 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 20 exit slip road to M5 northbound, closed for survey works. Diversion via M5 southbound to junction 16, to turn and return northbound.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
