Road closures: almost two dozen for South Gloucestershire drivers this week

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 21 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 21 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M48, from 2am July 14 to 6am November 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 eastbound, Severn Bridge lane closure 24 / seven for main cable inspection and bridge maintenance works.

M48, from 7pm June 22 2022 to 6am January 23 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, Severn Bridge - Lane closure for main cable inspection works.

M48, from 7pm May 11 2022 to 6am April 7 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M4 Prince of Wales bridge.

M4, from 10pm May 23 2022 to 6am April 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

And a further 17 closures will begin over the next seven days:

M4, from 8am to 6pm on November 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 both directions M4, junction 18 to junction 19 - lane closure for inspection/surveys.

M4, from 8pm November 21 to 6am November 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18a to 17 - carriageway closure for carriageway repairs, diversion via M49, M4, M5.

M5, from 8pm November 21 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 14 lane closure / traffic lights installed by South Gloucestershire for VRS repairs. No access to northbound, entry slip from B4509 eastbound, - traffic diverted to Wotton Road roundabout and back.

M32, from 10pm November 21 to 5am November 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - carriageway closure for drainage work, diversion following solid triangle, exit M32 at, junction 1, A4174, A38, join M5 northbound, at, junction 16, join M4 westbound.

M32, from 10pm November 23 to 5am November 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - carriageway closure for drainage work, diversion: Follow solid black square. Exit M5 at, junction 16, A38, A4174, Join M32 northbound, at, junction 1, M4 eastbound.

M32, from 9pm November 24 to 6am November 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 entry slip road closed for white lining works. Includes lane closure on main carriageway. Diversion via M4 westbound to junction 19, turn and return via M32, junction 1 to re-join the M4 eastbound.

M5, from 9pm November 24 to 6am November 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16 hard shoulder running for gantry maintenance.

M4, from 9pm November 25 to 6am November 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 to 21 carriageway closed for white lining works. Includes lane closures over M4 Prince of Wales bridge. Diversion via M49 southbound to M5, junction 18 and M5 northbound to Almondsbury Interchange.

M5, from 10pm November 25 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 Both Directions, junction 14 to junction 18 IPV for drainage works, Avoiding all other works.

M4, from 10pm November 25 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 Both Directions, junction 19 to junction 21 mobile IPV for drainage, Avoiding all other works.

M32, from 10pm November 28 to 6am November 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 both directions, junction 1 - exit slip road lane closures for inspection/surveys.

A46, from 9.30am to 3pm on December 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 stop and go at various locations for barrier inspections.

M32, from 10pm December 1 to 6am December 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 1 exit slip road closure for maintenance works, diversion via M32 northbound to M4, junction 19 and return.

M5, from 8pm December 2 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 13 to 14 lane closure for horticultural works.

M4, from 9pm December 2 to 6am December 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 to 21 carriageway closed for white lining works. Includes lane closures over M4 Prince of Wales bridge. Diversion via M49 southbound to M5, junction 18 and M5 northbound to Almondsbury Interchange.

M4, from 8am December 5 to 4pm December 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 hard shoulder closure for vegetation works.

M32, from 10pm December 5 to 6am December 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 15 to junction 17 carriageway closures for Central Reservation works, diversion M4 eastbound to junction 19, M32, junction 1 A4174. A38, Hayes Way, Merlin Way, Alternative M4 westbound to junction 22, southbound, on M49.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
