Road closures: almost two dozen for South Gloucestershire drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 23 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around South Gloucestershire will have 23 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M48, from 9pm April 3 to 6am July 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 both directions mobile lane closure for drainage works.

M4, from 6am May 20 to 10pm July 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22, 50 mph speed restrictions.

M4, from 8pm May 30 to 6am July 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 both directions, junction 22 closed between exit and entry slip road for carriageway repairs. Diversion via exit and entry slip roads.

M4, from 8pm June 5 to 6am July 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 Both Directions, junction 18 to junction 19 lane closures for bridge construction.

M32, from midnight, March 26 to 5am November 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 and M4, junction 19 to 23 used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses for Bristol Parkway to Newport route.

M5, from 5am March 25 to 5am November 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 17 to 16 - narrow lanes for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from 5am March 17 2023 to 5am January 21 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 19 to 20 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

M4, from 5am March 11 2023 to 5am January 21 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 to 19 - narrow lanes including 24/7 closure of offside running lane for SMART motorway improvements.

And a further 15 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M4, from 9pm June 26 to 6am June 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to 19 lane closure for structure maintenance.

M4, from 9pm June 26 to 6am June 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 22 to 23 Prince of Wales Bridge - carriageway closure for structure maintenance, diversion via M48 Severn Bridge.

A46, from 9pm June 28 to 6am June 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 to 19 closed for technology works. Diversion via A46, A420, A4174 to M32, junction 1.

M4, from 9pm June 29 to 6am June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 to 21 lane closure for barrier works.

M4, from 10pm June 29 to 10pm July 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22, 50 mph speed restrictions.

M48, from midday, June 30 to 1am July 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 21 to M48, junction 2 both directions. Plan your journey expecting increased traffic flow for music event at Chepstow race course.

A46, from midday, July 2 to midnight, July 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 18 both directions. Rod Stewart music concert Badminton Estate. 20,000 expected. Congestion may occur at this location.

M49, from 8am July 3 to 4pm July 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 Both Directions M5, junction 18a to M4, junction 22 lane closures for barrier repair.

M48, from 10am to 3pm on July 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M48 westbound, from M4, junction 21 to M48, junction 1 - lane closure for maintenance works.

M48, from 7pm July 5 to 6am July 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M48 westbound, junction 1 to 2 Severn Bridge carriageway closed for structure maintenance works. Diversion via M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

M32, from 9pm July 5 to 6am July 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 1 to M4, junction 19 roundabout carriageway closure for horticulture works, diversion via A4174, A38, M5, M4.

M32, from 10pm July 7 to 6am July 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 18 exit and entry slip closed for road markings renewal. Diversion for exit slip via, junction 19, M32, junction 1 and back. Diversion for entry slip via, junction 17 and back.

M4, from 8pm July 8 to 6am July 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 17 to 18 - carriageway closure for gantry installation, diversion for southbound, traffic via M5 northbound, M4, M49, diversion for northbound, traffic via M49, M4.

M5, from 9pm July 10 to 5am July 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip road - carriageway closure for technology works, diversion via M5 northbound, exit, junction 17 to turn and join M5 southbound.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
