Road closures: four for North Somerset drivers this week

Drivers in and around North Somerset will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around North Somerset will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause major delays – with motorists facing a wait of at least half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

M5, from 9pm April 11 to 6am May 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 Both Directions, junction 19 to junction 20 lane closure for barrier improvements.

And a further three closures will begin over the next seven days:

A4, from 9pm April 25 to 5am April 28, severe delays (more than 30 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 19 to 20 carriageway closed for National Grid works. Southbound, HGVs diverted via, junction 18, A4 and A370 to junction 21. Southbound, Light vehicles diverted via, junction 19, A369, B3129, and A370 to junction 21. Northbound, HGVs diverted via M5, junction 21, A370 and A4 to junction 18. Light vehicles vierted via M5, junction 20, B3130 and A4 to junction 18.

M5, from 9pm May 2 to 5.59am May 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 21 to 22 lane closure for white lining.

M5, from 9pm May 2 to 6am May 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 18 to 20 lane closure for barrier works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
