North Somerset's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

North Somerset's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause severe delays – with drivers facing a holdup of at least 30 minutes. Another will cause moderate delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

M5, from 8pm May 9 to 6am July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 22 to 21 lane closures for resurfacing.

And a further five closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M5, from 10am to 3pm on June 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 20 lane closures on both exit slips for North Somerset Council works.

M5, from 8am to 4pm on June 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 19 to 20 lane closure for site survey.

A4, from 9pm June 6 to 5.59am June 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 19 exit and entry slip closed for road markings renewal. Diversion for exit slip via, junction 18, St. Brendans and back. Diversion for entry slip via, junction 20 and back.

A4, from 9pm June 10 to 5am June 12, severe delays (more than 30 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 19 to 20 carriageway closed for National Grid works. Southbound, HGVs diverted via, junction 18, A4 and A370 to junction 21. Southbound, Light vehicles diverted via, junction 19, A369, B3129, and A370 to junction 21. Northbound, HGVs diverted via M5, junction 21, A370 and A4 to junction 18. Light vehicles diverted via M5, junction 20, B3130, A370, and A4 to M5, junction 18.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
