North Somerset's motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But drivers will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures are due to start this week:

M5, from 8am to 6pm on December 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 19 to 20 hard shoulder closure for inspection.

M5, from 8pm December 7 to 5am December 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 21 lane closures for resurfacing.

M5, from 9pm December 7 to 6am December 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 21 - single lane running for road markings renewal.

M5, from 11pm December 9 to 6am December 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 21 to 19 - lane closures for road markings renewal.

M5, from 10pm December 12 to 6am December 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 21 to 19 - lane closures for road markings renewal.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
