NTA Awards 2022: shortlist revealed including Bridgerton - how to vote and full shortlist

The National Television Awards (NTAs) are back  with a star studded list of nominees including Bridgerton, which filmed in Bristol’s Leigh Court.

The starry event - which has aired for two-decades - aims to celebrate the heights of British television. This year, comedian Joel Dommett returns to host for a second time.

Actors lucky enough to be nominated, will sit in anticipation at Wembley Arena, subjected to a public vote. Nominees include LGBTQ+ breakthrough, Heartstopper to the roughed-up finale of Peaky Blinders.

Bristolians can get behind Bridgerton and local actress Adjoah Andoh, as the Bristol-filmed series looks to snatch the award for returning drama.

In its inaugural season, Bridgerton enchanted watchers with its dazzling costumes and period-drama-meets-fantasy charm. With many  of the memorable moments from season one filmed at Leigh Court in Bristol.

Leigh Court is known for its regency-era features and 25 acres of private land. The ballroom can be seen as residents of Bridgerton danced to orchestral renditions of pop tunes.

One of the show’s stand-out characters, Lady Danbury, is played by Bristol local Adjoah Andoh. The Clifton-born star has worked alongside Hollywood hero Morgan Freeman and appeared in two-series of national treasure, Doctor Who.

Adjoah will be part of the cast looking to win the Returning Drama award.

What has Bridgerton been nominated for?

Bridgerton has been nominated in the Returning Drama category. However, two of the show’s stars have also been nominated for separate categories.

Jonathan Bailey has been nominated for Drama performance for his role as Andrew Bridgerton. Whereas, Carithra Chandran has been tipped as a ‘Rising Star’ for her performance as Edwina Sharma.

How to vote for Bridgerton at the NTA?

Unlike other award shows, the NTA allows the general public to decide the fate of nominees. The public can vote on each category and will just need to register their name and email address at the end of the process.
