Great Bristol Half Marathon 2022: When is it, what is the route and how to enter

The Great Bristol Run will be back in 2022 with 10k and half marathon events as well as the family-friendly Great Bristol Family Run.

The first Bristol half marathon took place in 1989 with 1,000 people joining - now there are over 10,000 people joining the event each year, some running for fitness and health while others run to raise money for charity.

The route for the 10k starts in the city going through the waterfront, crossing to go to Spike Island, through Wapping Wharf, looping around Queen Square and from there going to Redcliffe, Castle Park, the Old City and ending on Anchor Road.

The route for the half marathon goes past the waterfront, along the Avon Gorge passing under Clifton Suspension Bridge and meeting the 10kers at Spike Island and continuing on from there.

All three events will take place on Sunday, September 25 next year.

The entry fee for the 10k is £34 while the entry for the half marathon is £44. Included in the entry price is a personal run pack, access to training plans, support and advice as well as regular emails to keep you motivated.

On the day, family and friends can track your progress through the Great Run app. Other benefits include a medal and exclusive t-shirt and good bag for finishers.

Earlybird entries have now closed but regular entries are still available on their website.

Runners need to be 15 years or older to register for the 10k and 17 years or older for the half marathon.

If you’re looking for something a bit more relaxed and family friendly why not try the one mile Great Bristol Family Run?

The entry fee is £12 per person and children 3 and over are eligible to participate.

This route starts and finishes on Anchor Road.
