Bristol Museum to welcome the Lunar New Year with traditional lion dance and martial art demonstrations

Bristol Museum and Art Gallery will host their annual Lunar New Year (also knowns as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival) on February 8 and 9.
The event will feature vibrant performances exploring the rich cultural heritages of China and South Asia through captivating dance, music, martial arts and lion dances, as well as creative, family-friendly crafting activities and a fun-filled Snake Trail Adventure.

Lunar New Year 2025 at Bristol Museum - February 8
- 10.15am – Welcome
- 10.20am – Authentic Chinese Tea Performance by Keemun Black Tea team direct from Huangshan City, Anhui Province, China
- 10.30am – Traditional dance performed by Clevedon School
- 10.45am – Kung Fu demonstration by Bristol Shaolin Wushu Academy
- 11.15am – Traditional Lion dance – HM Lord Lieutenant awakens the new lion! University of Bristol Lion Dance Troupe
- 12pm – Classical music on the Erhu and Guzheng performed by Ronni Ho (Erhu) and Iona Wang (Guzheng)
- 12.15pm – Dance with pandas!
- 12.30pm – Interval
- 1.30pm – Children’s performance by Avon Chinese School
- 2pm – Kung Fu demonstration by Bristol Shaolin Wushu Academy
- 2.30pm – Traditional song and dance performed by South Gloucestershire Chinese Association
- 3pm – Traditional Lion Dance performed by University of Bristol Lion Dance Troupe
- 3.30pm – Traditional song and dance performed by South Gloucestershire Chinese Association until 4pm
