In their matching red sequinned blazers, The Stylistics dazzled as soon as they strutted onto the stage at Bristol Beacon.

Despite being around for 56 years, the 1970s soul group from Philadelphia were as strong as ever, featuring two original members.

Jason Sharp, the lead singer who joined the group in 2011, hit all the high notes just as flawlessly as they were performed on the records.

By the second song in, the audience were singing along; by the third, they were swinging their arms, and by the fourth, they were on their feet.

With their irresistible mix of love songs and disco hits, many in the crowd were enjoying it so much that they were reluctant to sit back down.

The band promised to take the audience on a ‘musical journey back in time’ - and they certainly delivered.

With classics including Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart), You Are Everything, and, of course, You Make Me Feel Brand New, the older audience members were reliving their youth.

The three Stylistics were also grooving along with dance moves, albeit a bit stiffer than perhaps they once were.

Airrion Love, one of the original members, humorously remarked that at 75, ‘everything’s still working but not as well as it used to!’

Everything went smoothly during their performance at the Beacon, though, with the old-school show exuding the same charisma it would have in the past.

At the end of the show, the gentlemen shook hands with numerous audience members, showcasing the deep affection they have for their fans - and vice versa.

It’s clear that the music of The Stylistics evokes fond memories and fills many listeners with joy.
