The closure forms part of a £3m refurbishment plan of the iconic bridge, including structural, mechanical and electrical repairs.
Final adjustments will be made to the bridge’s lifting systems during this final stage of the works.

Harbour staff will also be trained on how to operate the bridge with its revised lifting system that allow larger boats to enter Welsh Back.
Redcliffe Bascule Bridge will close to all road users between 9.30am and 3.30pm from January 20 to 31 to carry out the work and training safely.
A temporary diversion route will be in place during the duration of the works, and motorists will not receive a fine for driving through the Bristol Bridge bus gate if they follow the signposted diversion.
