Bristol Airport is set to welcome over 1.6 million passengers from mid July to early September, making it the airport’s busiest Summer holiday getaway yet.

To ensure a smooth transit, the airport has reminded customers that liquids, gels and pastes are restricted to 100ml per item, but can now remain in hand luggage alongside all electronics while passing through security screening.

Pockets continue to still need to be emptied, loose items placed in hand luggage and metal water bottles emptied before entering security. Coats, hats, belts and sun glasses will need to be placed in the trays provided alongside any hand luggage.

Passengers should allow more time to pass security if they are travelling with pushchairs, car seats, wheelchairs and walking aids that have not been check in as these will be searched.

Parents should prepare for children who are 1 metre tall and above to use the security scanner or if they are unable to hold the position required or are under 1 metre tall, then they will be hand searched.

Bristol Airport also recommends all passengers to prepare and plan ahead, checking in online and using Twilight services offered by some airlines, if convenient.

Passengers should allow enough time to arrive at the terminal and complete their check-in, bag drop, security checks and boarding processes before their flight departure.
