Bristol City are said to be on 'alert' according to reports in France after being linked with a move for Huddersfield Town midfielder Brahima Diarra.

Foot Mercato claim that City along with West Brom and seven other Championship clubs are chasing his signature and that a Ligue One team is also interested.

The report says that he 'could well leave' before the transfer window shuts on Thursday. Earlier this month, EFL journalist Alan Nixon said that Huddersfield would 'cash in' on him and that Leicester City had previously been linked which could reveal the identity of one of the teams interested. He is a central midfielder and has played 19 times for Huddersfield this term but has struggled for starts, and did not start a single league game under Darren Moore.

Speaking to the Bristol Post yesterday, Liam Manning was confident that one more player could arrive before the deadline at 11.00 pm on February 1. City have made five new signings this month with Scott Twine fronting up the transfer business after arriving on loan from Burnley. City have had one eye on the future with the signings of Jack Griffin, Jack Hooper, Adam Murphy and Josh Stokes.

“I’m optimistic that hopefully we’ll get one done before it shuts,” Manning said.

"Attacking-type player, yes,” he added when asked what sort of individual that was. “We are working hard and I’m actually looking forward to getting some signal on my phone to see where we’re at, but we’re pushing hard to get work done.”

Elsewhere, former Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou is in talks over a return to English football. Burak Ozdemir, a journalist for Turkish outlet Fanatik, says that Diedhiou is 'about to be transfered' to their Severnside rivals Cardiff City.

Diedhiou left the Robins in 2021, joining Turkish club Alanyaspor on a free transfer, despite receiving a contract offer to remain at Ashton Gate. Current Bluebirds boss Erol Bulut managed Alanyaspor and will have been aware of him from then. Diedhiou departed in January 2023 for Granada, but has struggled to find his form and has not scored a league goal since May 2022. The 31-year-old has played nine times in La Liga this season but has failed to find the target.

Fammy was a popular figure at City, and during his time at City he scored 51 goals in 169 games. Should his move to South Wales be finalised he would be reuniting with Callum O'Dowda, who was a teammate of his during their time in the West Country. Bristol City and Cardiff City meet in the Severnside Derby on Saturday, March 2.
