A look at the Championship team of the week for the weekend of February 9-11, 2024.

Bristol City fans were rewarded for their efforts at the weekend as they witnessed their side win 2-1 against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Approximately 450 fans travelled to the North East to witness the Robins win on their travels. Jason Knight and Matty James netted in a two-minute salvo in which the hosts couldn't recover from. Samuel Silvera netted a stoppage time goal for Boro but they could not mount a comeback.

Bristol City hadn't won in the league for six games and their success at Middlesbrough was their first league win of 2024. They recovered from their disappointment of losing to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday in the best possible manner.

The reward for City's win was that they leapfrogged Severnside rivals Cardiff City into 13th and are now just six points off of the play-offs. Individual players also received some recognition too with two players making the Championship team of the week which was decided by the player ratings recorded by WhoScored, which supplies the EFL with information that helps decide weekly, monthly and seasonal awards.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Tuesday's opponents Southampton were victorious after recovering from going two goals down to Huddersfield Town. The Saints' unbeaten run in the league stretched to 22 games as they won 5-3 at St Mary's. Sekou Mara and Samuel Edozie netted for Russell Martin's side in the final 10 minutes of the match which kept them in second ahead of Leeds United who had beaten Rotherham United.

The action finished at Coventry Building Society Arena as Coventry City recovered from Romaine Esse's 12th minute opener for Millwall by equalising from the spot through Haji Wright who then followed his penalty up with the winner three minutes later in the 70th minute. Coventry City, Southampton and Bristol City all feature in the Championship team of the week, flick through to see who else made the cut.
