Where are they now? Bristol Rovers side dumped out of the FA Cup by non-league Barrow in 2016
The Gas, who were two leagues above the Bluebirds at the time, fell victim to an FA Cup upset almost six years ago
Bristol Rovers prepare to take on Barrow tonight, however there has been no shortage of drama during the few times they have met.
After six games in the 1960s and 1970, the sides met in November 2006, in the FA Cup, where the Gas survived a late scare, running out 3-2 winners against the then tier six side, avoiding any upset.
Fast forward just over ten years to December 2016, where National League Barrow rocked up to newly promoted Bristol Rovers to return the favour.
The Bluebirds found themselves 1-0 down inside ten minutes, after a close range strike from Rory Gaffney, but top scorer Byron Harrison scored twice either side of half time to dump Rovers out of the FA Cup in the second round.
It was a day to forget for the Gas, who had now made it back to back years in which they had been knocked out of the Cup by Non-League opposition after losing to Chesham a season before.
Games like that can define a players career because any kind of cup upset attracts attention from the media and clubs in a higher division.
If you’re on the receiving end of an upset then the usual excuses of focusing on the league come out, but it was probably just that. Bristol Rovers finished a respectable 10th in League One that same season.
In this article, we will take a look at the journey’s of the starting eleven that day since leaving the Gas

1. Kelle Roos
After spending the first half of the season with the Gas, Roos was recalled by parent club Derby County but would have to wait until January 2019 to make his league debut for the Rams, following brief loan spells at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle. Roos has featured sixteen times under Wayne Rooney this season, keeping four clean sheets. Photo: George Wood/Getty Images
