Where are they now? Bristol Rovers 2007 League Two play-off winning team

It was a brilliant day out at Wembley Stadium for Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers won promotion to League Two at Wembley Stadium 16-years ago to this day. It was the first time the Gas had a taste of the new Wembley Stadium, having opened just months prior.

Shrewsbury took the lead through Stuart Drummond after heading home from Neil Ashton's free-kick. Rovers didn't lie down for long though and Richard Walker scored the first of two goals after scoring with a neat finish from Ryan Green's low cross. He scored a brilliant secon goal with a nice deft chip which comfortably beat the goalkeeeper. A crowd of 61,589 watched on at Wembley with talk of a new stadium needed to cater for the fans that came. Sammy Igoe made sure of the victory minutes after Marc Tierney was sent off, with Igoe scoring after Shrewsbury had committed bodies forward in search of finding an equaliser.

Igoe and Walker will have been delighted to have been on the winning side, having also both scored in the EFL Trophy final defeat to Doncaster Rovers at the Millennium Stadium, which hosted all the finals whilst Wembley was renovated.

16-years is a long time in football, and to our knowledge no one is still playing competitively these days, but plenty are still involved in football, either watching it for leisure as a supporter or as a coach. Here is where the Bristol Rovers XI, subs and manager are doing now after helping the Gas to the first of three promotions to the third tier since the turn of the century.

Igoe and Walker will have been delighted to have been on the winning side, having also both scored in the EFL Trophy final defeat to Doncaster Rovers at the Millennium Stadium, which hosted all the finals whilst Wembley was renovated.
