What’s happened to the 14 players that left Bristol Rovers this summer?

Bristol Rovers’ squad is slightly more settled than last year but there have still been wholesale changes to the make-up of the first-team

Bristol Rovers can be content with their transfer business so far but there is still room for more incomings.

The Gas have brought in James Gibbons, Jordan Rossiter, John Marquis and re-signed James Connolly on a permanent transfer.

Marquis and Connolly were both bought for undisclosed transfer fees, which highlights that the board are happy to back their manager when he and his staff identify a target.

Joey Barton stated last week he wanted to sign between five and seven more players to help prepare him for the 2022/23 League One campaign.

They have Forest Green Rovers on the opening day of the season and whilst they have enough bodies for a starting XI and a full bench, there is a demand for new additions.

The squad was made up of a number of loan players last season and since their returns to their parent clubs, there are gaps in the squad that needs to be filled.

Rovers are slightly thin on the ground in some areas, most specifically at centre-back where they are considering converting Wales Under-21 international Luca Hoole there from a right-back.

There is also a desire for a new midfielder whilst Zain Westbrooke looks to have been given a new lease of life after falling out of favour last season.

But what about the players that weren’t kept on after Rovers won promotion? Have they gone on to better things or was the club right to part ways with them?

A total of 13 players were released back in May and another one opted to return to one of their former clubs.
