Steven Schumacher said he was happy with Plymouth Argyle earning a point at Bristol Rovers after a 2-2 draw.

The Argyle boss saw his side concede a two goal ead at the Memorial Stadium, in a game they were lucky to not lose in the end. Wonderstrikes from Finn Azaz and Adam Randell gave The Pilgrims a two goal lead at the break however second half goals from Josh Coburn and Aaron Collins meant that the points were shared.

Rovers were the dominant team in the second period and had several opportunities to win the match. Away goalkeeper Michael Cooper had to save his side a few times after the game had turned into the home sides favour.

“It was end to end, could’ve gone either way but a point is still a good result today,” Schumacher said in his assessment of the four-goal thriller.

“They went for it and unfortunately we couldn’t keep them out for long enough in that first few minutes of that second half then we had to really dig in and battle to not concede more than two.”

The first half was an even affair, with the teams separated by two pieces of quality from Azaz and Randell in an otherwise even 45 minutes.

A change of shape from Joey Barton at the break and the addition of Josh Coburn the Gas dominated the second half for the most part.

Super-sub Coburn netted less than two minutes after the interval and completely switched the momentum of the game with the Gas on top. Collins then completed the comeback just over ten minutes later, netting his ninth of the season.

He said: “I’m not too disappointed because of the pressure they put us under, it could’ve gone either way we could’ve lost that game as well so we move on,

“We learn from it to try and start the second half better and not let the momentum go their way and get the crowd behind them. They’re in form, been playing well and we knew it was going to be feisty, there’s a bit of a rivalry between the fans so everyone was up for it.”

There were some slight protests around Coburn’s goal, with Argyle defenders protesting that the ball may have gone off the Middlesbrough loanee’s arm. Aaron Collins played the ball across to the Boro striker who used his full body to bundle the ball over the line.

“I think our lads are asking for it, looks like Coburn has hit it on his arm as it’s going in, but the linesman didn’t see it or the ref didn’t see it so we can’t change it now.

“I can’t fault any of our players for their effort and I’m sure Joey (Barton)  will be saying the same with his players , it’s one of them we take a point and we learn from it.”
