The 17 Bristol Rovers players on board for next season and when each contract expires - gallery

All of the senior players contracted to Bristol Rovers next season

Bristol Rovers 2022/23 League One campaign has now concluded, but the work does not stop there. The off season is a time where most assume people would have a break, but now the transfer team and the board, have to discuss new contracts with those out-of-contract, and those that are entering the final year of their contract.

The latest update is that Harry Anderson will at least leave the club in the summer, but will be given the opportunity to prove his fitness to the manager. Anderson's been at the club for two seasons, but a difficult second year means that the Gas don't want to give him the contract that he may require. January signings Calum MacDonald and Grant Ward have their deals expire, whilst Josh Grant's contract is up, but Barton wants the trio to stay. It looks like Glenn Whelan and Paul Coutts' time as players is up, with Whelo remaining as part of the coaching staff and Coutts joining him.

As is the case in the third tier of English football, not many teams can offer such contract security as perhaps Premier League and Championship teams, who can offer three to five-year deals, and in Chelsea's case even an eight-year contract. During Joey Barton's time in charge at the club, we've seen numerous players go in and out of the club, and this summer might be no different.

Here are all 17 senior players that are under contract at the Memorial Stadium for next season and when each of their deals is due to expire (latest data via Transfermarkt and Football Manager 2023).
