Ranked: League Two’s 20 best young players - including Bristol Rovers, Mansfield and Exeter stars

League Two has continued its reputation of being the division for young players to strut their stuff as they make a progression in the senior game.

In previous years, the likes of Ben White, who was at Newport, has gone on to represent England, whilst 2015/16 Premier League winner Kasper Schmeichel once had two loan spells at Bury.

And this season has been no different with plenty of players either 21-years-old or younger, enjoying an important season of development to their careers.

Some have stood out better than others and that brings up a debate of personal accolades and whether they are deserving of their awards.

The League Two season awards were handed out by the English Football League in London on April 24, and prize handed out was the best Young Player.

Newport County’s Finn Azaz pipped Bristol Rovers stalwart Connor Taylor and Leyton Orient defender Shadrach Ogie to the Young Player of the Year Award.

His six goals and five assists for the 11th placed Exiles was enough to impress the judges, who preferred his attacking stats to Taylor’s defensive contribution of 15 clean sheets in the league this season.
