It's now officially two weeks until the Championship season starts and clubs are rushing to get deals over the line in order to have new transfer signings available for the league's opening weekend.

The summer transfer window is of course open until September 1 but second-division sides will have played four matches by then with vital points up for grabs early.

Here are the latest Championship transfer rumours with League One outfit Bristol Rovers rivalling Norwich City for a loan deal and Sunderland hitting an impasse with a stubborn French side.

Norwich face Bristol Rovers competition for Celtic wonderkid

Norwich will face competition from League One side Bristol Rovers to land rising Celtic star Bosun Lawal this summer.

The talented 20-year-old, who is equally capable as a defensive midfielder as a centre-back, is on the fringes of the Celtic first team and could be sent away from Scotland to gain playing time.

The Canaries have long been linked with the player, having been beaten to his signature by Celtic in 2021 with Chelsea also reportedly making a move to sign the star from Watford.

If Norwich want the Irish international at Carrow Road on a loan deal, they will have to beat Bristol Rovers and Portsmouth to convince the Scottish Premiership giants they are the right choice, according to The News.

If League One sides offer Lawal the potential of a first-choice spot, it could leave David Wagner needing to convince his parent club that the gametime is there for him in the Championship.

Sunderland must cough up more for Sochaux striker

Sunderland will have to increase their bid to land Sochaux striker Eliezer Mayenda with the Ligue 2 club changing their valuation of the star.

The Black Cats do not often go summer transfer window shopping abroad but the talented 18-year-old has piqued the interest of Tony Mowbray and the North East side are reported to be in discussions with Sochaux over a deal.

Mayenda is believed to want to make the move to the Championship with his heart set on Sunderland and personal details verbally agreed, but discussions between clubs have reached an impasse.

Foot Mercato report that the deal is just 'temporarily' stalled as Sochaux demand more cash from Sunderland. The French side's asking price hasn't been revealed, but Transfermarkt values the Spanish striker at £260,000.
