Bristol Rovers and Northampton Town meet at Sixfields Stadium this weekend ahead of a mid-table League One clash.
The Cobblers sit 12th in the division, just two places below Rovers who are in 10th. Saturday's hosts are winless in four, meanwhile the Gas have won three out of their last five matches. With a third of the season left, both teams are in similar situations, whereby play-offs seem unlikely, but not mathematically impossible.
Jon Brady's team haven't won at home in the league since New Year's Day, where they beat League One strugglers Cheltenham Town by a goal to nil. The Gas will be looking to win back-to-back away matches in the league for the first time since October 2022.
Matt Taylor's side came from behind in midweek as they beat Steve Evans' Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium. Whilst the Cobblers just fell short in a thriller in London, as Leyton Orient came out 4-3 winners at the Gaughan Group Stadium.
The two sides met in their return fixture at the Memorial Stadium back in October, where the Pirates came out on top, where they won 2-1. Rovers have an impeccable record against Northampton and are unbeaten in their last 11 meetings with them, winning seven.
If either team are remotely serious about putting on a late promotion charge, then this weekend is for sure a must-win. However, Saturday won't be straight forward for either team as both are missing key players across the pitch as both manager's have astronomically long absentee lists to contend with.
