Bristol Rovers have confirmed that Aaron Collins is absent from their matchday squad ahead of their League One encounter with Oxford United this afternoon.

The 26-year-old ruled himself out of selection for Bristol Rovers, manager Matt Taylor has revealed. According to the Bristol Post, both Bolton Wanderers and Wrexham hold an interest. A move could take place within the final week of the January transfer window. Matt Taylor said to BBC Radio Bristol: “That’s not my decision, it’s Aaron’s decision. We understand that there’s a lot going on behind the scenes in terms of what might happen over the next few days in the transfer window. “We had that discussion with him yesterday and he didn’t feel as though he was quite in the position to be available for today."

The former Forest Green Rovers man has made 139 appearances for the Gas since his switch from the League Two outfit and has scored 39 goals for the club.

Collins was League One player of the year last season for Rovers, however has struggled for both form and gametime this season, especially since the recent appointment of manager Taylor.

With the transfer window entering its final few days, Gasheads will be eager to see what the future holds for Collins, who has three goals and eight assists in the league for the Pirates this season.
