He left the Memorial Stadium in the summer after playing for four years for the Gas.

Josh Grant has signed for a new club following his summer transfer exit from Bristol Rovers.

The 26-year-old was one one of seven players that saw their contracts expire at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. He had been a free agent since the Gas published their retained list on May 1, but now after six months without a club, he's found a team to play for.

Grant has dropped down to leagues to sign for Wealdstone who play in the National League. They are managed by former Portsmouth and Bolton Wanderers favourite Matt Taylor, and so Grant will have one from one Matt Taylor to another.

Speaking to Wealdstone's official club website, Taylor said: "Josh is an extremely talented footballer who was a League One player this time last season - we are very lucky to have secured his signature."

He could make his debut for Wealdstone when they play Rochdale on Saturday (November 26). Wealdstone are third from bottom and a point adrift of safety.

Grant was signed in July 2020 for an undisclosed fee from Chelsea when Ben Garner was in charge. He had arrived having had loan spells at Yeovil Town and Plymouth Argyle, featuring for the Glovers and the Pilgrims in League Two.

In Grant's first season he made 39 appearances but suffered relegation. He played a total of 21 times in the promotion winning campaign under Joey Barton in 2022. Grant was kept for the following season, but was limited to just one appearance, but recovered from his injury to appear 36 times last term.

His main position was as a centre midfielder but he was deployed as a left-back and as a centre-back.
