There was a nervous feel around the stadium with a smattering of boos at the full-time whistle, some directed at the players and other at the extravagant celebrations of Stanley goalkeeper Lukas Jensen.

Despite the loss, Rovers can take pride in another well attended match which was their second highest of the campaign for them. A total of 8,906 spectators entered through the turnstiles including 153 fans who made the long trip down from Lancashire.

The opening day crowd of 9,064 against Forest Green Rovers remains the highest but it was a significant improvement on last week’s lowest attendance of 8,078 last weekend.

As attendances go, Rovers’ match with Stanley was the fourth highest out of eight matches, after several matches were called off due to international call-ups.
