Bristol Rovers supporters witnessed some late drama as Ryan Loft rescued a point for their side in a 2-2 draw with Exeter City at St James Park last Saturday.

Loft scored in the 92nd-minute to salvage a draw having initially gone in front through John Marquis second-half opener. Jevani Brown levelled from the spot and Sam Nombe later put the Grecians in front, but the Gas showed fighting spirit to at least come away from the Devon with something.

Joey Barton’s side were backed by a sold-out away end, despite their bad run of form, with the supporters keen to play their part in turning the fortunes around of the club.

It was a testament to them as Rovers fans had to navigate through national rail strikes to make their way down to Exeter to attend the match, and so getting into the four-figures were impressive.

As for away followings across the league that weekend, they recorded the fifth highest in the division, which is just above the average. The biggest following was from Sheffield Wednesday as over 3,500 Owls fans witnessed Will Vaulks score with a stunning long-range effort at Port Vale.

League One also saw a massive game in regards to the early season promotion race with Portsmouth taking just shy of 2,000 fans to Portman Road. Danny Cowley’s men would suffer their first defeat of the season, losing 3-2 to the Tractor Boys.

As for the lowest crowd, newly-promoted Forest Green Rovers took 240 fans to their relegation rivals Burton Albion. The men from Nailsworth would lose 3-2, courtesy of a hat-trick from former Gas loanee Victor Adeboyejo.
