Joey Barton could rotate his Bristol Rovers side today as they travel to his former club Fleetwood Town on Easter Monday.

The Gas got back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Good Friday. John Marquis scored from the spot in the only goal of the game having come off the bench to score.

Marquis, who now has double figures for the season, came on six minutes after top scorer Aaron Collins and Ryan Loft did. Collins was not injured but instead it was a tactical decision that paid off for Barton. It was the first time Collins hadn’t started a game in the league this season.

Rovers have been boosted by the return of Harry Anderson. Anderson underwent surgery for a groin problem that has impacted his campaign but now he is available for the remainder of the season as he bids to earn a new contract. Josh Grant has returned to training and he could feature again this season.

“The squad is in a really good place,” said Barton in his pre-match press conference. “Harry Anderson is back in the group now, Josh Grant is hopefully back on the grass this week, touch wood, so really positive signs that the group is coming along nicely.”

On-loan Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah serves the second of his three game suspension. He was red carded against Portsmouth and the FA deemed the offence to be worthy of a three matches.

Barton revealed on Friday that both Anssi Jaakkola and Ellery Balcombe both had knocks, which meant Jed Ward was recalled. Jaakola has a calf problem whilst Brentford goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe has a knee injury. Former Fleetwood midfielder Paul Coutts is unlikely to play again this season because of a knee injury. Jordan Rossiter is the same after damaging his meniscus in December.

As for the visitors, goalkeeper David Harrington has been absent since September with a severe injury. Danny Andrew isn’t available either after missing the last five matches after coming off injured against Wycombe Wanderers.

A boost for Rovers is that Carlos Gomes, who has seven goals this season for Fleetwood and is their top scorer is missing. Scotty Robertson has been missing for several matches whilst Promise Omochere has been sidelined since February.

Fleetwood still have Jayden Stockley and Jack Marriott to call upon but neither of them were on target in their defeat to Cambridge United on Friday. Darnell Johnson has not made an appearance for Rovers this season and is unlikely to feature.
