Bristol Rovers have dipped into the transfer market with two signings but Stevenage lead the way with the most additions already made

The January transfer window is open and even in League Two there have been a raft of deals take place.

After going through four months where they’ve been unable to make moves with some teams changing managers, they are getting the chance to assemble the squads they want.

Some are looking for players which can bolster their promotion hopes while others are looking at newer faces who can improve their fortunes at the bottom end of the table.

For Bristol Rovers, they’ve already conducted their business early by bringing two new players to the Memorial Stadium, both of whom will hope to improve the clubs fortunes as they sit lowly in the division.

They’ve brought in Ryan Loft from league rivals Scunthorpe United for an undisclosed fee, as well as James Connolly who recently joined on a season-long loan from Championship strugglers Cardiff City.

Elsewhere in the league, former Gas boss Paul Tisdale has been busy, reuniting with Ed Upson, who left Bristol Rovers last summer. They have also made a huge coup of Christy Pym, who at the start of the season was playing for Peterborough United in the Championship.

A few teams have also been weakened with clubs from higher divisions taking their players. Jake Beesley who scored a brace against Bristol Rovers in their 4-2 win has earned a move to Blackpool who play in the Championship.

Another former manager at the club Darrell Clarke has brought in three players including both Ryan Edmondson and Kian Harratt from Leeds United and Huddersfield Town respectively. Their most recent signing was Chris Hussey from Cheltenham Town who had experience in the Championship with Coventry City.

In Wales, Newport County have been moving players off of their books to make way for new signings, they released trio Christopher Missilou, Jordan Greenidge and Jeramine Hylton who are now all free to join a new club.
