Every League One club’s top scorer predicted as Bristol Rovers, Bolton, Portsmouth men tipped for success

With just over a week until the start of the League One season, experts have made a guess at who will be the top scorer at nearly all 24 clubs.

League One has some fantastic players, and the 2023/24 season will be no different, with clubs being ambitious as ever in the transfer market.

The league is being looked at as one of the most open divisions in recent seasons, given that Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday are playing in the Championship. Reading, Blackpool and Wigan Athletic have come down, but they're not as big as clubs historically as the two that went up, and now any team can hold ambitions of being successful in the third tier.

At Bristol Rovers, Joey Barton is confident of getting his side in the play-off mix, and so far his recruitment has been spot on. He's got Jevani Brown who got 21 goal contributions for Exeter City last year, whilst James Wilson after winning the title with Plymouth Argyle has remained at this level, and is hopeful of success again. The Gas do have some big hitters to overcome if they are to be successful with Portsmouth on a strong recruitment drive again, whilst they've been able to keep hold of Colby Bishop amid interest from the league above.

Below are the predictions for who will win the Golden Boot in the 2023/24 League One campaign. Transfer business is yet to be finished with more than a month left of the window, but most players who win the accolade are at the club at the start of the campaign. Jonson Clarke-Harris and Conor Chaplin shared the award last year with 26 goals apiece, but will the ex-Gas striker get on the mark again?

*At the time of writing, no player from Carlisle United, Stevenage, Shrewsbury Town or Chelteham Town have been backed to be leagues top scorer.
